Why me, why now?

My constant observation along decades is that learning and its place in society are more or less 'administered' to young learners by systems which care more about their objectives and less about the vocation these youths can build based on their talents, free choice and will. All this, while we are living in an unparalleled awakening for a change of paradigm!

My background

I gave up teaching when I started to see the effects on both students and teachers of a big problem we have created in this world after the WW2, but mostly after the early 70's. The problem I'm referring to is that we went through a long enough period of systematizing everything. This was in order to make it easier to quantify and manage our lives, mostly in the name of economic growth and in terms of grabbing and holding power. In this process, we are sacrificing the qualities of the soul and the touch of a good heart. I don’t need to bring many examples, but I do remember how I was influenced by my primary school teacher and other great teachers during the years that I’ve had the privilege to attend their classes.

I have designed a more effective learner-centred support platform, using the Accelerated Learning technique, elements of sophrology and course experiencifying methods, to inspire engagement and intrinsic motivation for learning. The problem I am addressing is the fact that the traditional education system inspires lack of trust, purpose and it ultimately diminishes people’s intrinsic motivation for fruitful learning, thus suffocating their mere joy of discovery and creation of new knowledge.

My vision

I have a model for connected learning. It is in fact a matured and unifying version of the concepts of ‘study-buddy’, co-authoring, mentoring and group learning. An even more humane aspect is that connectivity can and should bring into the learning process the elements of fun and togetherness.

  • I won the Scottish Innovative Student Award for working on the UN Goal 4 concept in 2020;
  • My approach: Quality education - lifelong learning and equitable learning-centred education;
  • My Master's dissertation was on Open Access and digital research for the collective good;
  • I have a practical level of understanding from three perspectives – learner/teacher/governance.

Knowledge is...

I see knowledge as the natural resource produced through the human mind. Add this to the natural resources produced by Mother Earth itself so generously for all of us, and let's act on our moral duty to distribute them fairly for the benefit of all!
